MY STORY

Coming from a small town in Hampshire, Elena has always been raring and ready to explore the world and what it has to offer. She has always been a creative soul, even from a young age, with fine art being the basis of her time throughout secondary school and college.

Those experiences as a young woman have pathed the way she designs and how she has found her passion for the creative industry. Initially, Elena wanted to become an architect. She always loved the idea of creating something and watching it come to life. After work experiene at a firm and an interior design company, Nikolic decided that she strived for the hands on side of design. To feel fabrics, place materials together, gather products and really experience the mood and feel of a design that she had created.

Elena joined Southampton Solent University in 2020, it was a tough start. Being a student during COVID definately had its challenge, but she had found her love, passion and life in Interior Design Decoration.

Having experience in Commercial, Residential design, interior styling, and wallpaper design she experienced a whole new plethora of skills to take with her into the industry. As her three years at University has gone on, she has found that her favourite of all the amazing aspects of interior design is Surface design. Elena loves how much an effect wallpaper can have on a space and how personal it can be to each individual.

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Design is knowing which ones to keep.”

Over the years I have experienced many sectors of design. Working in Spatial design, with residential project transforming a house into a home. To the commercial world, designing concept hotels to cater for the masses and shop spaces, adding creative concepts to design immersive and intriguing spaces. I have also worked in the styling sector, designing magazines and understanding the principles of the styling world and how to create effective and impactful images. Out of all these sectors of the industry, my all time favourite is surface design. I am so inspired by the way a simple wallpaper of fabric can completely transform a space. It is the best way to add your own personality to design. The history and meaning behind the creation of wallpaper really displays the passion and love for the trade by so many. Having all this experience in the design world, the possibility for diversity in my design is endless. I will aim high, and work in luxury design with a wide plethora of clients. It is crucial to keep a good work ethic in this field, and I will keep up this ethos throughout my professional career.

Success and excellence is a large factor of any working title, this is something I strive for in my future. This statement means a happy work environment, with a solid team to collaborate with ideas and guidance. It means a creative flowing workspace where ideas can flourish. It means full work fulfilment, where you are passionate and connected to your workload. This is the way I shape my success and excellence in my working life.

My motto is 'Personal, Creative, Passionate'. I have worked in customer service for several years so fully understand the concept of meeting client needs and making sure any space or design is catered to them personally. I am always creative, Introducing new concepts and ideas with an outside the box thinking structure. I am also a passionate worker, with a long history of loving all things design. The ability for me to be impactful and transform lives as well as spaces is why I keep working so hard and ensuring my passion shows through my projects.

My passion for Interior Decoration grows with every passing day. I am looking forward to transfer my wide knowledge and skills to add my homey, maximalistic and colour inclusive impact into the industry.

MY THREE YEARS AS AN INTERIOR DESIGN DECORATION STUDENT HAS FURTHER BOOSTED THE LOVE I HAVE FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY.
