THE GLASSHOUSE BAR

CONCEPT HOTEL FOR A HIGH END, LONDON HOTEL

In my second year at university, I was commissioned to create a concept hotel in the heart of London, directly opposite the Ritz Hotel! The brief was to create a bar/resturant in the centre of the hotel, that guests and visitors are welcome to dine in. The reason this hotel is called The Glasshouse is due to its beautiful glass feature circling through the entirety of the hotel. Guests are welcome to lounge at the double-height bar with bespoke swing seats or classic rattan chairs. Funky, altering chairs are placed throughout the space to provide that maximalistic feel, with larger tables for bigger groups dining and smaller ones if visitors just fancy a drink!

The S-shaped sofa seating is great for big parties, and the alternating flooring creates a fun and vibrant environment. Not to forget the botanical features, such as the overhead boho lighting engrossed in foliage, and the plant pillars bringing freshness into the bar.

THE CONCEPT AND CLIENT

FITTING THE TARGET MARKET IN A PERSONAL, CREATIVE WAY

One think I like about concept work is my ability to be free with the target market. I was tasked to create my own client to whom I would be designing for. Although hotels cater for the masses travelling far and wide, the target market for the Glasshouse Hotel was trendy young travellers. Making their way through the city of London and taking in the sights, The Glasshouse Hotel would be a great place to relax whilst also keeping up with the trends. The likes of influencers and stars would travel to this hotel.

The concept merged two defining trends throughout the 21st century, cozy boho style mixed with the refreshing botanical trend. The two mixed together create a raw and natural environment. The clashes of pattern and mis matched chairs and sofas create that brilliant vibrant and fun feel. Great to take pictures in! The bamboo bar and natural wood walls provide a sweet contrast to the overhead foliage which makes a great feature, and gives that tropical feel so visitors feel like they are on a proper holiday, without having to leave the country!
