THE GLASSHOUSE HOTEL

CONCEPT HOTEL FOR A HIGH END, LONDON HOTEL

In my second year at university, I was commissioned to create a concept hotel in the heart of London, directly opposite the Ritz Hotel! The brief was to create a master suite room for the hotel. As you walk in the room you are greeted with a calming yet spacious work place area, with natural wood panelling as a feature to the space. Walk through to a heightened dining area with floor seating and rugs, perfect for that casual boho vibe. Sectioned off by natural wood and a plant feature, had on through to your living area with bespoke recessed seating, great for guests and also time to spread your legs and get comfortable.

The bedroom area is sectioned off by two hanging, rattan chairs. Great zoning and provides a nice area for chill out time. On the wall is a bespoke bamboo feature, bringing those natural elements all through the house to provide the sense of serenity. The bathroom is decorated in natural stone, with a bath and walk in natural shower with plants covering the walls, so visitors can feel fresh and energised. Equiped with a his and hers sink, it is a great space to get up and go after a peaceful stay.

THE CONCEPT AND CLIENT

FITTING THE TARGET MARKET IN A PERSONAL, CREATIVE WAY

One think I like about concept work is my ability to be free with the target market. I was tasked to create my own client to whom I would be designing for. Although hotels cater for the masses travelling far and wide, the target market for the Glasshouse Hotel was trendy young travellers. Making their way through the city of London and taking in the sights, The Glasshouse Hotel would be a great place to relax whilst also keeping up with the trends. The likes of influencers and stars would travel to this hotel.

The concept merged two defining trends throughout the 21st century, cozy boho style mixed with the refreshing botanical trend. The two mixed together create a raw and natural environment. With pattern clashes and texture all around, it provides a great space for living in the trends and still feeling homely. The dark and rigid colour pallete complement the fresh colours coming from the greenery, and the soft beige touches add that sweet sense of comfort. Texture is all around, meant to create a soothing environment that will make visitors want to come again!
